SteelSeries has just announced, during CES 2011, the introduction of its first wireless Xbox 360 headset, the Spectrum 7xb, that features all the company's advanced sound technologies as well as a retractable, unidirectional microphone and 50mm drivers.
While this is the company's first wireless
headset ever produced, SteelSeries is confident that it can deliver the same high quality sound as that found in its wired audio solutions.
To achieve this, a new antenna design was used which is able to minimize interferences and deliver up to 4Mbit/s of wireless bandwidth for loseless digital audio.
Furthermore, this technology allows the Spectrum 7xb to operate at up to 32 feet away from the Xbox 360 transmitter and features a smart LED to notify when the headset is connected.
Battery life is estimated at more than 20 hours of continuous use, while powered by two AAA batteries.
“We believe that the SteelSeries Spectrum 7xb will offer
Xbox 360 gamers the right combination of what they should expect and want in a wireless headset,” said Bruce Hawver,
SteelSeries CEO.
“Gamers and industry reviewers gave our Spectrum wired headsets an incredibly positive reception. We knew immediately after launch that we needed to offer a wireless design to round out the line-up.
Now we’ve brought together the award-winning design of the 7H headsets with its interchangeable earcup design and powerful soundscape, and have merged it with the advanced wireless technology, found along with our unique LiveMix feature and the new ExactSND which offers pre-set EQ settings for different usage scenarios.
We’re confident that the Spectrum 7xb will not only deliver, but impress,” concluded the company's rep.
The SteelSeries Spectrum 7xb headset will be available in the second quarter of 2011 for $149.99 US or €149.99, depending on what side of the pond you happen to live.
