We've seen the Swarovski Crystal styled MacBook Air, we've seen the 24 carat gold plated MacBook, but never have we seen such a boldly customized Mac mini. This here steampunked Mac is
the work of Dave Veloz, who crafted this beauty for another beauty: his wife.

Matching keyboard and monitor, Victorian style Apple logo... this is just too much. How is it that Swarovski crystals and 24 carat gold don't fit half as good on gadgets as this steampunk design does? Well, the answer to that is quite simple actually: taste. What you're looking at here is something of very good taste. Not that blokes responsible for the aforementioned designs don't have good taste, we just think this Mac mini is a bit better looking.

The details

According to The Steampunk Workshop, Dave Veloz actually used granite for the monitor's base and leather for the old typewriter-styled keyboard. Check out the details...! (click to enlarge the images to the left).

Steampunk
Examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" of such technology as dirigibles or analog computers; these are frequently presented in an idealized light, or a presumption of functionality.

Steampunk is associated with cyberpunk quite often, and shares a similar fanbase and theme of rebellion, but developed as a separate movement, even though both have considerable influence on each other. Still, apart from time period and level of technological development, there is one main difference between cyberpunk and steampunk and that is that steampunk settings usually tend to be less obviously dystopian than cyberpunk (sometimes, dystopian elements lack entirely).

As mentioned above, Dave Veloz created this beautiful design for his wife in time for their recent wedding. Softpedia congratulates Dave for his superbly crafted steampunk-styled Mac mini and for getting married (between us blokes, it takes an extra pair to go forth with it).
