14 DAY TRIAL // Size Five Games has announced that The Swindle, a procedurally generated steampunk platformer, is coming to Steam and to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U platforms sometime this summer.
The game shares the humorous tone of Size Five Games' previous titles, indie gems like Gun Monkeys and Ben There, Dan That!, and mixes it all up with some stealthy platforming gameplay mechanics.
Players will be able to break into buildings, hack security systems, fight robot police drones, grab all the cash and then make a timely escape before the alarm sirens start blaring.
As players accumulate wealth, they'll be able to upgrade the thief with a wide array of new skills and tools, allowing them to tackle even more elaborate security systems and much bigger buildings.
The main creative mind behind The Swindle described it as a mix between Deus Ex and Spelunky, with a great soundtrack and a ton of personality.
The Swindle marks the indie studio's debut on consoles and comes with a slew of interesting gameplay interactions such as steampunk gadgetry, bombs, quad jumps, teleportation, bionic eyes, and everything else a daring thief needs in order to pull off heists.
You can choose between stealth or action
The game is also created as a sort of action-oriented answer to everything author Dan Marshall finds frustrating in stealth games, meaning that there won't be any following people around and listening in on conversations between guards, but just plain old cybercrime and a ton of brainy platforming.
Once the alarms start sounding, you won't have to restart the level, but cash will start being drained from computers, so you'll need to race across the level and grab what' left before the police gets its hands on you.
The game was initially revealed last October, and you can see the announcement trailer below. The console editions of The Swindle are being handled by Curve Digital, who seem like they're doing all the indie port jobs in the world right now.
