The new Early Access initiative from Valve for its Steam digital distribution service allows gamers to play a number of titles while they are still in development and one of the veterans of the indie scene believes the new concept will give teams more freedom and more resources.

Mark Morris, one of the co-founders of Introversion, tells GamesIndustry.biz that, "Selling Alpha access is definitely the way forward for indie devs."

He adds, "We really wanted to be public about how well it has worked and the breakdown of the different tiers to help other devs to decide how to structure their own approach to selling their games."

At the moment, Introversion is working on Prison Architect, which is selling in alpha version for now, and the team has previously created games like Dawinia, DEFCON and Multiwinia.
