Valve has released yet another Beta version of the Steam client, fixing a few problems and smaller issues.

A new Steam Beta client has been made available by Valve, but this is a much smaller version and it looks like a new major and stable release is just around the corner.

According to the changelog, a problem that was causing some free games to disappear from users’ libraries in the current Beta branch has been fixed. This was actually a very annoying issue and it affected quite a few users.

Also, a case where the system context menu for the Big Picture window could be activated on game exit has been fixed, and the Remove Friend and Block All Communication buttons in the Profile actions section have been repaired.

Keep in mind that this is a Beta version and bugs are bound to show up. In order to get it, you have to enroll in the Beta program, from Preferences, and to restart the application.

If you already are in the Beta program, you won't have to do anything special. After you start the application, you will be prompted to update it.

If you don’t have the client installed, you can download the Steam for Linux installer from Softpedia. This is not the actual application, but a small tool provided by Valve.
