Steam for Linux Now Shows the X Window Manager After Update

Steam for Linux has been in the Beta stages for some time now, but Valve has released the final version of this branch, along with a large number of promotions.

The Steam client for the Linux platform has spent several months in development and a lot of changes made it in the finale version that was officially released.

Being developed at the same time with the other two versions for Windows and Mac OS has some advantages and everything major added to one platform will make it to the other two

Highlights of Steam for Linux:

• A texture corruption that occurred when using the Game Overlay in OpenGL games has been corrected;
• The client now longer fails to do HTTP downloads from hosts that started with a numeral;
• X window manager name has been added to system info dialog.
