Valve has launched a new beta version for its Steam for Linux client, bringing a lot of interesting new features.

After a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable. The work for the next beta starts almost immediately.

Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux beta update:

• A potential crash that could occur in the library details, if a game had guides available and the user quickly entered and exited the details view, has been fixed; • A resource leak that occurred on game exit has been fixed.

A complete list of changes brought by this release can be found in the official announcement.

Download the Steam for Linux installer from Softpedia. Keep in mind that this is an update for the Beta version, which means that other bugs might exist. Those bugs will be fixed in the upcoming releases.
