This is not a major update, but it has a few interesting fixes

Valve has launched another Beta version for its Steam for Linux client, this time with an important fix for the Big Screen mode.

After a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable. The work for the next beta starts almost immediately.

Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux update:

• A regression, that was causing Big Picture to activate spontaneously under some circumstances, has been fixed; • The game backups for Half-Life and Half-Life 2 engine based games are now being restored properly; • Picking the wrong Steam Library folder, for games with dependencies on already installed games, is no longer a problem.

A complete list of changes brought by this release can be found in the official announcement.

This is a Beta software and this means that bugs are bound to surface. Download the Steam for Linux installer from Softpedia and join the Beta program in the Settings in order to get access to the latest version.
