The Steam for Linux platform is starting to gather more and more interesting games with each passing day, and the top sellers on the Linux platform illustrate this trend. We'll take a closer look to the top five titles on the top-seller list from Steam.

The fifth place is occupied by Garry's Mod, a physics sandbox based upon the Source engine used in Half-Life 2, which allows users to do almost anything if they put their mind to it. Even if its developer has been rather reticent at first to the idea of getting his title on Linux, it seems to have paid off.

In all fairness, the fifth place was occupied by a DLC Season Pass for Metro: Last Light, but that's not an actual game so we didn't mention it.

The fourth place is Pixel Piracy, a new side-scrolling 2D simulation game developed by just two guys, Vitali Kirpu and Alexander Poysky. The game is actually in the Early Access Game program, which means that it's not even final. Being in the top-selling list is proof that this is one heck of a game.

The third place is occupied by Planet Explorers, a sandbox adventure RPG game that uses a powerful Voxel-based engine that allows players to change the terrain in any way they like. It's being developed by Pathea Games and it's also part of the Early Access Game program.

Rust, the almighty FPS sandbox game developed and published on Steam for Linux by Facepunch Studios, is in the second place. This is one of the best-selling games on the Linux platform because it provides its with users a complete degree of freedom that hasn't been tried anywhere else.

To top it all off, it's also part of the Early Access Game program, which means that it's still far away from the stable version, but it's stable enough to rule any chart.

The first place is occupied by Metro: Last Light, the amazing-looking FPS developed by 4A Games, which had a huge 77% sale during the weekend (still has a little over an hour left), pushing the title all the way to the top of the chart.

Metro: Last Light is now the poster child for SteamOS because it provides the best graphics possible on the Linux platform. No other game is capable of squeezing such quality from OpenGL and there is no indication that something even remotely similar will be available in the near future.
