Video game publisher SEGA has announced that it has teamed up with well known developer Valve to bring gaming megastar Gordon Freeman to the Steam version of its top down action game Renegade Ops, which will be launched on October 14.

The game will cost 15 dollars (9.99 British Pounds or 12.99 Euros) and players who are eager to play it and cannot wait for the Steam version can pick it up on the Xbox 360 through Live and on the PlayStation 3 via PSN.

Renegade Ops allows gamers to pick a driver and a vehicle and then face off against the forces of Inferno, the stereotypical madman who just want to rule the entire world.

The developers at Avalanche has created a simple but engaging set of gameplay mechanics that focus on quick decisions and a lot of mayhem and the Steam version of Renegade Ops will allow players to use the Half-Life 2 Buggy as a vehicle, with an option to unleash Antlions in order to defeat his enemies.

John Clark, who is the director in charge of digital distribution for the PC at SEGA, has stated, “Working with Steam and the Half-Life team makes this game extra special. Gordon Freeman is a deeply-established character in the gaming world and we are proud to have him included in Renegade Ops.”

Renegade Ops has been created with cooperative multiplayer in mind, with 2 players able to engage in split screen while up to 4 gamers are invited to play online.

Gordon Freeman's appearance in Renegade Ops will inevitable lead long term Half-Life fans to talk about the fact that his own series has been put on hold for quite some time.

After the success of Episode 2 Valve promised that the third game would quickly arrive but since then, apart from rumors, nothing has been heard about what Gordon Freeman could do in the future.
