Some Steam users have gotten a peculiar gift from the digital distribution service today, as those who bought the Renegade Ops 4-pack, which gave them a copy of the game plus three extra ones to give to friends, have now received three new copies of the twin-stick shooter made by Avalanche Games and published by Sega.
As most PC and Mac gamers know, Steam is running its
Winter Sale event these days, offering great discounts on plenty of titles and hosting a massive competition with great prizes.
On December 24, Steam’s daily discount list included Renegade Ops, a twin-stick shooter, which could be had either as a standalone purchase, or as a 4-pack, which had 4 copies of the game for a lower price.
Those who bought the four-pack were treated with a peculiar issue, however, as their copy of Renegade Ops didn’t have any downloadable content packs, like the Reinforcement Pack and the
Coldstrike Campaign, the three copies that needed to be given to friends had that DLC.
This problem was encountered by many Steam users, resulting in
a massive thread on the Renegade Ops forums.
Now, however, this issue has evolved into something even more peculiar, as those who bought the Renegade Ops 4-pack now find that they have three new copies of the game, without the DLC, in their inventory, besides the ones with the DLC that they got with their first purchase
No explanation was given by Steam’s support service, as of yet, but it seems that customers are now getting quite a lot of extra things for their actual money.
Expect more details about this issue once Steam support representatives return to work after the winter holidays. Until then, these new copies of Renegade Ops without any DLC can still be gifted or traded on Steam with others.
