Valve has released a new version of the Steam client this morning, implementing a long series of changes that are supposed to result in major performance improvements on Windows, Linux, and Mac.

Simply labeled as Steam 12.03.2013, the new version of the client packs improved in-game overlay compatibility for some DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 games on Windows 8.1, so any game incompatibilities that might be experienced on Microsoft’s new OS should no longer exist.

At the same time, the new build adds option to let other games download while a game is running, add download regions for some new Canadian locations, and improves download rates for internal app meta data.

Overall, there’s no doubt that this is quite an important update for all users, so download Steam 12.03.2013 to benefit from all these improvements on your Windows computer.
