This week Steam has a special week-long offer. Every day a different THQ game will be available for purchase as a special treat. Today the title on sale is Titan Quest Gold, and it includes the original release and the Immortal Throne expansion pack. On the Steam Store page that features the game, the special price is detailed in a very elaborate manner, with all sorts of crossed-out prices, new ones, a total balance sheet and the verdict. The bottom line is that today you will be able to purchase Titan Quest and the Immortal Throne expansion for $9.99.

The other games that Steam will offer this week on this special THQ promo haven't been revealed, but one thing is clear. The THQ Collector Pack will have a 10% price drop, from $100 to $90 and overall is a good purchase. The pack has 13 games, with tiles such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Company of Heroes, Dawn of War 2, Full Spectrum Warrior or the above mentioned Titan Quest. Bought individually, all these games would set you back almost $205 so the advantage is pretty big since it brings the price of each game down to less than $7 a pop.

Titan Quest is one of the successful Diablo-inspired games. It has enough of the old game to make things seem cozy and familiar, like the weapon design and drop system, as well as the in-level special dungeons, and what sets it apart from other Diablo clones is that it had enough courage to add its own original elements. The game is set in ancient Greece, where the generally peaceful rule of the Olympian gods is disturbed by the rise of all the mythological monsters that seem somehow organized. The unique element that the game brings is the class system and character development.

Classic role-distribution is brought down and unused. The classic tank, melee, ranged, spell damage dealers, hybrid class and healer system is discarded and every character develops into an individual hybrid. The player has one of eight specific masteries that he can choose as soon as his character levels up for the first time: Storm, Earth, Warfare, Spirit, Defense, Nature, Hunting and Rogue. As the character develops he will soon be able to choose a second mastery from the ones listed and each combination will give birth to its own special class, with strengths and weaknesses.
