All the Steam-related services are now down

The Steam platform, along with all the other services provided by Valve, are down right now and there is no indication why this is happening.

Usually, the maintenance for Steam is done on Tuesdays, but this downtime registered on Steam is not maintenance related. It wasn't announced beforehand and all the connected services have been affected.

That means that users can't log in Steam right now, they can't use the online Store, and they can't even access the community. There are a few websites that monitor the conditions of the Steam services and they all report the same thing. Everything Steam related is down.

Trying to login into the website will give this error message, "An error occurred while processing your request," and a long reference number.

These kinds of problems are not happening too often, so it's understandable why the gaming community is already flooding the forums and Reddit with all types of questions about the severity of this matter. As it stands right now, the Steam services have been down for a little over 30 minutes.

The only thing still standing is the SteamDB database, which hasn't been affected. Whatever the problem might be, it will take a while to get everything back on track.

There might be some spurious log-ins here and there, but for now users will have to get used to the fact that Steam is down.

We'll keep you apprised with any news about the Steam problems.
