Even if it held a pretty serious promotion in the last few weeks, with The Great Steam Treasure Hunt, Valve is now offering its traditional Steam Holiday Sale during this end of the month, with over 1,000 games from its portfolio discounted.

Judging by recent strategies, Valve is keen on taking advantage of any excuse to discount its games so that people will purchase them through the Steam digital distribution service.

The end of this year has been filled with such promotions, from the aforementioned Great Steam Treasure Hunt, to the Thanksgiving one, which banked on buying more copies then giving them to friends.

Now, the traditional Steam Holiday Sale is officially underway, and will run from December 20 up to January 2, 2010.

Special games are seeing massive discounts every day, while Steam is also slashing the prices on game packs and on catalogs of different publishers, from EA to Ubisoft or Bethesda.

The first round of offers is already up on the Steam service, so check out the discounts on the games below.

F1 2010 50% Battlefield Bad Company 2 66% Fallout 3 (Game of the Year) 33% The Deus Ex Collection 85% LEGO Batman 75% Peggle & Peggle Nights 60% Prince of Persia (Franchise) 75% Portal 75% F.E.A.R. (Franchise) 75% Titan Quest Gold 75% Super Meat Boy 75%

Holiday Bonus sales are also revealed each day, as if you have certain titles, you will upgrade your discount.

For a concrete example, Portal has a 75% discount, but if you have Half Life 2 or Team Fortress 2, the discount is increased to 85%.

Overall, Steam is once again showcasing just how good it is on crafting special offers and making people give up their disposable income when they see such big price cuts.

Be sure to check out Steam everyday to see what other new titles are being offered with a discount.
