The newly released Steam Hardware Survey from Valve shows that the Linux operating system is on the rise.

Steam for Linux is already available for almost a year and the adoption rate has been rather slow. The fact that the number of Linux compatible games have increased on Steam for Linux at a tremendous pace is now showing in the latest Steam Hardware Survey.

The most used Linux operating system on Steam is Ubuntu 13.04 64 bit with 0.35%, which is hardly surprising. The next one Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS 64 bit with 0.18%, and Ubuntu 13.10 64 bit with 0.15%.

The numbers are probably about to change a lot more because the Steam Winter Sale is coming up in just a couple of months.
