The Steam Halloween Sale of 2014 has just been leaked, as the official announcement from Valve for developers has appeared online, confirming that it takes place between October 30 and November 3 and that it will include a variety of games that fit the general Halloween theme.

Steam has gotten users accustomed to a variety of different deals and sales almost constantly, ranging from weeklong discounts, to specific ones honoring the middle of the week or the weekend.

Besides the major sales during the summer and winter periods, Steam also features themed promotions for major events, like the upcoming Halloween.

The Steam Halloween Sale 2014 kicks off on October 30, apparently

While usually these sales are a surprise, quite a few leaks happen, which are more or less likely to actually contain a grain of truth. The Steam Halloween Sale of 2014 has also been the victim of such a leak, via Reddit.

As you can see in the image above, it contains the announcement of the Steam Halloween Sale 2014 to developers that have games on Steam from Valve employee "TomG" and briefs them on the many different details of the promotion.

Developers are invited to send discounts for their games

The actual sale kicks off on October 30 at 10am PST and lasts until November 3, at 10am PST. Developers with games that fit into the Halloween theme are invited to submit discounts via the usual tool provided in the Steam backend and select the Halloween 2014 sale as the intended promotion.

"We're inviting any games that fit into the general Halloween theme to participate," Valve explains. "If you're not sure if your game fits that theme, look at how customers have tagged your product. Likely good fits are horror, zombies, ghosts, vampires, survival horror, dark, and so on. Products that are clearly not a good fit for the Halloween Sale will not be featured."

Plenty of other tips are shared by Valve with developers about the discount process, and you can be sure that quite a few studios and independent groups are eager to see their games featured in the upcoming promotion.

As of yet, however, the company hasn't commented on the leak, and considering its track record, won't say anything about it until the Halloween sale actually kicks off.

Even so, the dates match up to the usual Halloween period and cover the holiday weekend, so it's unlikely that the leak is false. As such, you might want to start saving up for the potential deals that will be featured in the promotion.
