The development team at Valve is introducing a new feature to the Steam digital distribution service, called Trade Offers, which is designed to make it easier and faster for two users to exchange items and cards.

The team states in the official announcement that, "You select the items you’re willing to give up from your inventory and what you’d like to receive from your friend, and send it off. Your friend will receive a notification in the green drop down and can then choose to accept, decline, or make a counter offer."

Those linked by a Trade Offer do not have to be online at the same time and all business can be conducted via a web browser.

A trade offer will expire after 2 weeks and multiple offers can use the same items.

At the moment, the feature is only available to friends but Valve might expand that in the near future.
