The Steam controller, which is currently in development at Valve, will be launched for players during October or November of this year and all the Steam machines created by hardware companies will be offered around the same date.

The information comes from a source that has spoken to PC Gamer about the future plans of Valve, saying that SteamOS will also get a big update later in the year and that 500 titles will be playable on the new system before the end of the year.

The controller has been re-designed at least two times by Valve and is set to offer a solid experience to PC gamers who are looking to play their favorite titles on the big screen.

The Steam-labeled device features touchpads that are sensitive enough to allow the careful control that's required for real-time strategy titles or role-playing games, while also giving them options to quickly navigate menus as they would do on the PC.

Valve has claimed that its new solution will make Steam a major presence in the living room and will allow the hardware created by its partners to compete directly with the Xbox One home console from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.
