A while back we've reported that Valve might be working hard on a native Linux client for its Steam platform, and today it seems that such an important event for Linux gaming is closer to reality.

The one who broke the news in April 2012, Michael Larabel from phoronix.com, is now coming back with another information, which almost confirms the initial report.

Apparently, a reader of the aforementioned website has an interesting piece of information coming right from Gabe Newell, head of Valve. It seem that Valve is targeting a 2012 launch for Steam.

Michael Larabel posted a screenshot of an email in which Gabe Newell confirms the launch of Steam for Linux in 2012. With E3 2012 starting today, we can only hope for some definitive news very soon.
