Valve has released a new Beta build of its Steam client, featuring a large number of changes and improvements.

Valve usually pushes a few Beta updates before upgrading the stable branch of Steam, and now it's time for another Beta build to be available for download.

According to the developers, Steam Family Options, a new way for parents and families to establish access to the Steam features and content they choose, has been added, a crash in the game backup code that occurred if a user didn't own a mounted depot has been fixed, and the estimated download-time is no longer staying blank in the Downloads page.

Also, a disk-activity indicator has been added to the downloads page and it will light up if updates are slowed because Steam is waiting for the local disk to write data.

Check out the official announcement for more details about this release. You can also download the Steam installer from Softpedia if you don't have the client.
