Major price cuts for popular games

Gamers are often put in quite a difficult position when it comes to buying games. They must choose either to buy them via the “old-fashioned way,” by going to traditional “brick and mortar” game stores, where they can even enjoy some benefits, or by accessing various online content distribution networks, such as the very popular Steam service, and downloading their game.

Even though Tony Bartel, the vice president of one of the most popular game store chains out there, GameStop, stated that he wasn't worried about online services, Steam might certainly win over quite a lot of people, as it has announced that it has employed a holiday sale on quite a lot of titles in its portfolio.

And we aren't talking about some small moves, as prices have been cut with 10 up to even 75 percent of their initial value. As such, games like Left 4 Dead are now 33.74 Euros as opposed to 44.99, and Far Cry 2 sells for 37.49 Euros. But big price cuts have been employed on quite a lot of older titles, meaning that you can now get the critically acclaimed BioShock for just 4.99 Euros, or the massively popular Team Fortress 2 for 9.99 Euros.

Major price cuts have also been employed for the packs that are available on the Steam store, as the Valve Complete Pack, which we reported about some time ago, is now available for 67.99 Euros. Also, other packs such as the THQ or the Eidos have also experience a pretty hefty price cut, and gamers are sure to find quite a lot of other interesting offers on Valve's distribution service.

Considering all the great games that Steam can offer and the major price cuts employed until January 2, this sale is certain to get a lot of gamers interested, and it will bring Valve and the companies that brought their games to Steam a pretty big profit.
