The words Mini PC naturally cause one to think of small, compact systems, such as HTPCs (Home-Theater personal computers), but some may not exactly grasp just how small a mini PC can get. ViewSonic caused a number of waves back in May, when it started
shipping the VOT125 Mini PC 'Handheld Desktop'. Now, Stealth appears to have outdone its rival by bringing out the LPC-100.
Essentially, the LPC-100 is defined by its incredibly small size, no larger than that of many paperback novels. Stealth considers it its smallest mini PC to date, since it measures 4.0 x 6.1 x 1.45 inches (102mm x 155mm x 37mm). In other words, a regular pen is probably longer than it, which is saying something about a device that can actually boast about CPU speeds of up to 2.53 GHz.
The mini PC seems to outperform other miniature systems by virtue of quite decent internal components. At the heart of it all lies an Intel Core 2 Duo mobile central processing unit (CPU), which can be either the Core 2 Duo P8400 (clock speed of 2.26 GHz) or the 2.53 GHz T9400. Whichever CPU is selected can be backed up by up to 4GB of DDR3 memory and a 2.5-inch hard disk drive of 500 GB. Consumers can also go for a solid state drive if they want less energy use and better transfer rates. Furthermore, the electronic includes the Intel Mobile GM45 Express chipset, Gigabit LAN and 3 USB ports.
"The Stealth Model: LPC-100 offers more processing power per square inch than any of the small form factor computers we have built to date. This full featured machine utilizes the latest Intel core 2 duo mobile processor technology outperforming most of today's desktop and mobile PCs and it does so in a fraction of the space." stated Ed Boutilier, CEO of Stealth.com Inc.
Regretfully, those that want the product will have to part with a solid $995 or more.
