Though peripheral makers often put effort into ensuring that their keyboards have at least a mild level of spill resistance, few can claim to have implemented the same level of ruggedness as the one featured by the KYBX-400, one of Stealth's latest creations that has a rugged enclosure made of stainless steel.

Ruggedness usually implies that a product has the ability to withstand harsh conditions, such as extreme temperatures, dust or even impacts from drops, among other things.

Given that only mobile devices have to regularly pass from normal to harsh environments, however, rugged tablet PCs or laptops, as well as portable storage solutions, among other things, are the main representatives of such electronics.

Still, Stealth decided it couldn't hurt to offer something a little different, so it came up with a keyboard that has all it needs to cope with harsh 'stimuli' so to speak.

Among the array of tasks that this product is suited for are military, aviation, vehicle applications warehousing and being used in control rooms or on plant floors.

The KYBX-400 can be employed in such environments mainly because of the “rugged vandal resistant stainless steel enclosure” that Stealth used in its creation.

As for what the keyboard can actually do, it boasts 71 full-travel keys and enables accurate, fast data input thanks to its silent tactile feedback.

It also comes with a 38mm optical trackball with a resolution of 800DPI and which is compatible with the IP65 specification.

What's more, even though built for endurance, the KYBX-400 has a NVIS-compliant adjustable, red backlight, for good visibility regardless of lighting conditions.

Other specifications include dimensions of 14.96 x 5.31 x 1.41 inches (380.0mm x 135mm x 36mm) and an expected life of 10 Million Actuations.

Those interested in this device need only visit the product page that its maker has added to its official website, though they will have to part with $695.
