Microsoft still hopes to move the majority of Windows XP users to a newer platform, but as far as many of the consumers are concerned, that’s not going to happen anytime soon.

Figures provided by market researcher StatCounter indicate that Windows XP’s market share has dropped to 19.24 percent in the first 11 days of this month, but it remains good enough to keep the 12-year-old platform the second top OS in the world.

While Windows XP’s market share is twice as big as Windows 8’s, it’s pretty clear that more users decide to jump ship as we move closer to the official retirement date scheduled to take place on April 8, 2014.

Microsoft has warned with every single occasion that staying on XP is extremely risky, so make sure you consider your options before the retirement date comes.
