Google Chrome is becoming increasingly popular among Internet users across the world, managing to stay well ahead of other browsers.

According to data from StatCounter, Google’s web browser’s market share in July was of 45.24 percent, slightly below the one from the previous month (45.44 percent).

Internet Explorer, as always, comes second, with 21.39 percent of users preferring it over other options, up from the 20.96 percent registered in June. Firefox has managed to lose a few users, it seems, as the market share dropped to 17.52 percent from 17.95 percent.

Apple’s Safari browser has managed to attract some new adopters, climbing to 10.62 percent from 10.33 percent in June. Opera also has a 1.39 percent market share, while the rest up to 100 percent goes to various other browsers.

When it comes to browser versions, Chrome 35 was the most popular of all, with a market share of 24.37 percent. This version has dropped considerably since June, when it was used by 36.17 percent of Internet folks. But that’s because people started to update their browsers to Chrome 36, which is now used by 12.69 percent of users.

The market share of Firefox 30 has also climbed this past month to 12.46 percent, up from nearly 6 percent the previous month. Internet Explorer is also used by 9.09 percent of Internet users, while Safari for iPad wraps up the top five with a market share of 6.18 percent.

As far as the world coverage goes, there’s really no surprise that Chrome is the favorite in most countries of the world, including the whole of United States, Canada and all countries in South America, Russia, China, India, most of Europe, Australia, and a good part of Africa.

Firefox seems to be gaining a lot more fans in central Africa, as well as Germany, Austria, Syria, Iran, Myanmar, Indonesia and a few other countries.

Internet Explorer is the most used browser in just a few nations – South Africa, Japan, and Papua New Guinea. The most surprising change since June, however, is the fact that Internet Explorer has been replaced as the go-to browser in Greenland, where Safari is now king. While in June Internet Explorer had a 32.65 percent market share in the country, followed by Chrome with 27.54 percent and Safari with 25.98 percent, in July, the picture looks completely different.

Last month, Safari’s market share was of 42.44 percent, while Microsoft’s browser dropped to 23.22 percent.
