Stardock advanced the development for their take of the start button for Windows 8, Start8, to the stage of release candidate.

Start8 1.1 RC brings to the table an extended list of button images and the possibility to disable hot corners in a multi-monitor environment. On the same note, users can now right-click the start button in order to launch the Win+X menu.

The update mechanism has been improved as the new revision can automatically check for fresh releases on a weekly basis.

The developer also worked on making the application more stable and solved a rare race condition crash that occurred on guest account login.

Furthermore, they added a workaround to tackle the slow update of the recent application list, which was caused by a bug in Windows Defender.
