I am sure that you're a fan of the Metal Gear Solid franchise and, even more, you love the multiplayer thrills offered by Metal Gear Online. If so and if you consider yourself one of the best players ever, you should be really pleased to find out that Konami is planning to start a World Championship competition in order to choose the true best player of the game.

Even though the details are pretty scarce at the moment, we do know that the tournament will be a really tough one, since it will have local, regional and global stages - and everything will culminate during the Tokyo Game Show which will be held in October.

Every Metal Gear Online player is allowed to enter the competition (this means all countries from Europe, the US, Japan and Greater Asia). There will be local tournaments to be held first, aimed at removing the worst teams, and then regional competitions will follow, where the winning teams will receive all-expenses-paid trips to Tokyo, Japan and a chance to be crowned as the best MGO player in the world. The first championship will take place in the US at ComiCon in San Diego, with further details coming to the official website in the following weeks, so be sure to keep an eye on it!

Metal Gear Online is an online dedicated title included in MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, a game which took the market by storm when it got released in June but slowly started to die because of way too many cinematic sequences. But what matters to us is the MGO game, which features unique characters, lots of weapons and levels inspired from Metal Gear Solid 4 but it's somewhat better since it allows for 16 people to play simultaneously and, by the end of the year, just one team will be crowned as champion. And Solid Snake will always respect you for that!
