If you’re still looking for a powerful Start Menu app that could bring back full functionality to the desktop in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, Start Menu Reviver is clearly one of the best choices.

Versions 1.0.0.1836, which was officially launched today, comes with plenty of improvements for Windows 8.1 users, including a new search, as well as a so-called Charms Task Switcher. The “Hide Start screen corner hint” is now disabled by default as well, the developers said.

The new build also brings a long list of fixes, including patches for screenshot key combinations, Modern icons, and several other features, such as searching, touch input and scrolling.

Just as expected, the application continues to run like a charm on basically all version of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, which means that you can download Start Menu Reviver right now if you’re still having a hard time getting used to the modern platform.

Word is that Microsoft itself is preparing the return of the Start Menu in Windows 9, which means that Start menu apps might be retired very soon, especially if Microsoft’s new option is good enough to restore all the features of the traditional Windows desktop offered by all OS build prior to Windows 8.
