Stars Come Out for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Premiere

It’s finally here: the latest “Pirates of the Caribbean” installment, which will also mark a different direction for the story, “On Stranger Tides,” premiered at Disneyland over the weekend. As expected, lots of stars came out to shine on the black carpet.

“On Stranger Tides” is not a sequel in the basic sense of the word, Disney has repeatedly pointed out – and the fact that it has a brand new cast, save some exceptions, will probably confirm that when it’s out in theaters from around the world.

For the time being, the film premiered at Disneyland and all the stars appearing in it (and then some) made sure to be there for the grand event, posing for pictures and taking questions on the black carpet.

New mom Penelope Cruz, for instance, made sure she kept in tone with the event, by dressing in a feathery, body-hugging, black siren gown that emphasized her post-pregnancy curvy body.

JustJared says that the gown was by Marchesa, while the large dangling tear-shaped earrings were by Chopard.

While Penelope simply oozed elegance through every pore, Johnny Depp went for an outfit that more on the retro side.

Having clearly lost some weight, with a new cropped hairdo and the ever-present blue shades, the actor made for the same delightful presence on the red (or black) carpet as ever.

In fact, “delightful” might be an understatement where Johnny is concerned, TooFab writes.

“With stars of the film Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush and Ian McShane on the carpet, fans got an eyeful of A-list talent. In fact, Depp barely talked to reporters – and spent most of his time signing autographs for almost every fan there!” the e-zine writes.

And these were not the only stars to come out for the premiere of the highly anticipated film: Kirstie Alley, Eva Longoria, Steven Tyler, Vanessa Hudgens, David Cook and Teri Hatcher were also there.
