Stargate Worlds is shaping up to be a pretty interesting MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Being placed in the highly successful and popular Stargate universe, gamers will have  the chance to play as several specific archetypes like Archaeologist, Asgard, Goa'uld, Jaffa, Scientist or Soldier and live out the exploration of new worlds. Based on the hit TV show, the developers, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, have just announced that the beta would start soon, on October 15.

“From now until launch, everything we do is about polish and fun,” said Stargate Worlds Studio Head Dan Elggren. “We’ve laid a great foundation for the beta testers and their feedback is a vital part of the game development process.”

All of the people who want to participate in this beta stage of the development of the game can register on this site. There, you'll be able to create an account and have the chance to be selected to participate in the beta. “More testers will be invited to sign up over time, so it’s not too late to put your name in the selection pool,” read the official press release.

This is truly a great opportunity for all the Stargate fans to take part in polishing up and refining this highly anticipated game. The title, although being slated for a late 2008 release, now appears as scheduled for an early 2009 launch and promises to bring all the action and excitement from the Stargate TV show to a complete and enjoyable MMO experience. Also, the game will have parts that will bring it close to a FPS (First Person Shooter) in terms of combat and the use of weapons in the gameplay. All the players will be able to use both human and alien devices but only to the lengths their classes permit them to.

All in all, it’s a very promising game which can only make the fans of the hit Science Fiction show very happy.
