Brad Wardell, the chief executive officer at developer and publisher Stardock, says that his company has the funds to fund a number of video game oriented start-ups, looking to offer backing to companies who have innovative ideas.

The executive tells Gamasutra that, “I don't want Stardock to become a big company.”

The publisher will not aim to buy any of the development teams it is working on and will only support them until they launch their titles.

He adds, “it makes more sense to have these start-ups form where the founders are already located.”

Wardell will be the interim CEO at the new companies and will then move into an advisory role.

Information about the titles that are getting money from the new Stardock fund will be offered during summer, when some of the projects will also be officially revealed.
