Brad Wardell, the Chief Executive Officer of Stardock, the developer and the publisher of Elemental: War of Magic, has stated that his company is aware of the issues that the turn based strategy title currently has and plans to address them all, with free content for those who already own the game.

The CEO, who also handled the development process for Elemental, has also apologized to those gamers that he might have offended while defending the quality of the game and the world of his team.

Wardell said that, “Stardock will be working on Elemental for years to come. Literally. Let me be specific: Stardock will NOT release a new game next year. It'll all be Elemental related. Releasing it in August wasn't a financial decision. Hell, Stardock's games aren't funded by PC game revenue. I wanted you guys to get the game ASAP.”

He elaborated by saying that the planned Book 2 expansion, which could arrive during this year, will be offered from free to those who own Elemental, alongside patches, and that the company is thinking of other ways to support the title.

The developers has added that he was so close to the creation process for the mechanics that power Elemental and the world it is set in that he forgot to be objective and though that the game could have no issue on launch, being on par in terms of quality with other big strategy launches like Civilization V from Firaxis and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty from Blizzard.

Wardell says, “Anyway, the point is, we fell in love with a vision of the game that was largely in our minds rather than in reality. The difference here is that Stardock has the luxury of being able to address it. Even if Elemental didn't sell a single new copy, we would still be able to address it.”

A Quick Look at Elemental confirms that the game has a lot to offer as long as Stardock is willing to deploy the resources needed to eliminate the rough spots and bugs.

"I wanted you guys to get the game ASAP" is another way of saying "we wanted free Beta testers". This is such a bad mistake to make. Never subject a customer to a half-baked product. It's unethical.

I don't think you're in any position to criticize Stardock for the release considering he amount of work they have/are putting into it.
your comment about 'free beta testing' is completely unfounded.
Get a life, mate.

Okay.

"So when I read the reviews, my first reaction isn’t anger but sorrow at having put people I respect through having to give something I know they were inclined to like and wanted to like through that." Frogboy
