Video game publisher and developer Stardock has announced that it has plans to reveal a number of new video games in the coming months via its just released annual Customer Report, with the company fuelled in large part by the money it has received from the sale of its Impulse digital distribution system.

Stardock plans to also work on more technology and other new products, although the company has not said exactly which areas it plans to work in.

The developer believes that the current shift towards digitally distributed and mobile games means that the big hits of the future will be so-called decoupled video games.

The report says that, “The actual gaming experience won't change very much except that the player will have a lot more flexibility as to how they play their games. However, the development experience will change radically depending on which platforms emerge as the leaders in this future.”

Stardock says that it has managed to hire “world class talent” in order to create its upcoming video games and new technology but has not revealed actual financial data for 2011, apart from saying that it has had its most successful year since it was founded in 1993.

Impulse was sold to retailer GameStop in May 2011 and Stardock says that the move allows the company to focus more on actual development and also opens up other distribution channels like Steam.

A team at the company is already working on the Fallen Enchantress expansion for its Elemental strategy and role-playing mix, with a launch date expected for 2012.

The original Elemental failed to meet expectations when it was launched in 2010 and Stardock has pledged to fix the experience.

Ironclad Games is also continuing development for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, an expansion that will update the 2008 space strategy release and will expand the number of available factions.
