Galactic Civilizations fans rejoice, as Stardock has just announced that the third installment in the series will be launched at some point.

Although the game has yet to receive an official release date, Stardock has already set the price tags for the beta and alpha versions of Galactic Civilizations III.

It appears that those who wish to take part in the beta for the Founder’s Edition of Galactic Civilizations III will have to come up with $40 / €40, while fans of the franchise who would like early alpha access to the game will have to pay no less than $100 / €100 for the Founder’s Elite Edition.

Keep in mind though that those who purchase the Founder’s Elite Edition of Galactic Civilization III will also receive all future DLC and expansions for free, their name in the game’s credits and the right to name a star to appear in-game.

Stardock has also confirmed that Galactic Civilizations III will be available exclusively to 64-bit PCs:

“The move to 64-bit architecture heralds a new era of game development at Stardock. The technology allows players to experience a level of graphical detail and on-screen activity unprecedented in large-scale strategy PC games.

“It dramatically increases the size and scope of the maps, and opens the door for modders to add a virtually unlimited amount of new content to the game,” said Derek Paxton, vice president of Stardock Entertainment.

According to developers, the third installment in the Galactic Civilizations series will come with a story-driven campaign that introduces players to the game’s setting.

In a galaxy dominated by the Drengin Empire, players command a powerful Terran armada with the sole purpose of getting rid of the Drengin oppression.

More importantly, for the first time, Stardock has confirmed that players will be able to compete against each other in person and over the Internet in Galactic Civilizations III thanks to a solid multiplayer mode.
