The game has already been finished and is ready to go

The most successful Blizzard game, Hearthstone, has passed 75 million players, while World of Warcraft managed to regain some of the lost subscribers in the last few years and the number of players is said to be back up at 10 million.

However, Starcraft II remains one of world's top five eSports games in terms of viewers on Twitch and prize money, so Blizzard has to maintain the franchise as long as possible.

The next step would be to launch another Starcraft game and Blizzard confirmed its plans for a new game in the series last year at Blizzcon when Legacy of the Void was unveiled.

Starcraft II Legacy of the Void will be Blizzard's next strategy game in this universe, and considering the game looked pretty polished at Blizzcon, it wouldn't come as a surprise if it were released this year.

That seems to have been confirmed by a Yahoo Finance Contributor who reports that a Blizzard insider claims Starcraft II Legacy of the Void has already been finished and is ready for release.

According to the unnamed source, an exact release date has yet to be confirmed but that the current time window ranges from April to June.

Blizzard refused to comment on the rumor

If that's accurate, Blizzard might announce a closed beta in the next few months, ahead of the presumable release of the game in Q2 2015.

Even though the news comes as a report from an unnamed source, it's pretty safe to assume that Blizzard will launch Starcraft II Legacy of the Void sometime this year.

Whether it's Q2 or Q3, it might not matter that much as long as the game is good and wipes the dust off a mediocre franchise that mostly excels at multiplayer.

Activision Blizzard offered their statement on the story, but as expected, their only comment was that they do not comment on rumors or speculations. So there you have it folks, take it or leave it.
