Blizzard has talked a bit about its controversial Starcraft Ghost shooter, and one of its developers has confirmed that the desire for such a title is still present at the developer, although it's unsure if it will be made eventually.

Blizzard's Starcraft series delivered some really impressive real-time strategy experiences over the years but, in the early 2000s, the studio wanted to bring the series to home consoles in the form of a shooter called Starcraft Ghost, which focused on Nova, a special Terran operative.

Unfortunately, the project was eventually scrapped as Blizzard focused on other, more successful games like World of Warcraft.

Even so, the studio's Alex Mayberry has confirmed to Videogamer that Ghost is still something Blizzard might do at some point in time, as there's a big desire inside the studio for such a thing.

"When we set out to do it originally we were GameCube, PS2 and Xbox," Mayberry said, "and after we shelved that I used to say that at that time we were very ready to make a Blizzard game on consoles but those consoles weren't ready for a Blizzard game. We just couldn't quite get what we wanted to do just because of those machines at the time. Maybe someday we'll take another look at that but I don't think it'll be any time soon. I think it's an idea that still lives inside the halls of Blizzard."

As such, while it may not look like it, Starcraft Ghost could still appear on consoles, especially since Blizzard already has experience on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One through Diablo 3.
