The development team at Blizzard working on the Heart of the Swarm for Starcraft II says that the main feature of the weekly update for the beta stage is support for clans, with all those who are testing the game now able to create their own clan or to choose an already existing one to join.

The game also receives a new special clan-based area that offers private chat, a news tab that can be customized, an information tab and a roster.

Those who lead clans will be able to offer promotions to the officer rank, which has a limited number of administrator privileges.

A name and a tag are linked to clans in Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm and the tag will automatically be added to the prefix in the character names.

The limit for members currently sits at 50 for each clan and Blizzard is waiting for feedback on the new clan features.
