Starbreeze, the Sweden-based developer working with publisher Electronic Arts on the reboot for Syndicate, has announced that it has laid off 25 employees following the completion of the game.

This represents about one quarter of the people directly employed by Starbreeze and Peter Tornquist, who is the chairman for the board of directors, has also announced his resignation.

Mikael Nermark, who is the chief executive officer at Starbreeze, stated when the announcement was made that, “It is sad that we are forced to make staff cutbacks affecting employees. But we have to reduce staff after the final delivery of the Syndicate.”

Syndicate is launched tomorrow in the United States on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC while gamers in Europe will have to wait until Friday to get access to it.

At the moment, it is not clear what project Starbreeze is taking on once Syndicate is launched.
