Independent games studio Juggernaut Games has started a crowdfunding campaign to get their latest title off the ground, a sci-fi themed dungeon crawler named StarCrawlers.

StarCrawlers is currently being developed for the PC, Mac and Linux platforms, and it promises first person dungeon crawling action set in a detailed sci-fi universe, with procedurally generated missions and dungeons and strategic role-playing game-style combat featuring an innovative time unit action system.

As any respectable role-playing game, StarCrawlers will have a multitude of customization and modification options in regards to its classes, as well as a complex system of upgradable loot.

Players will step into the role of a Crawler, a mercenary who goes on missions for whoever can shell the dough. From asset recovery to commercial espionage, the player and his team of unique Crawlers will carry on an assortment of various assignments, exploring abandoned spacecraft and battling mighty enemies, as well as unraveling the contorted corporate intrigue.

The StarCrawler Kickstarter shows a bit of the work the team has already put in developing the game, including a pre-alpha demo that showcases the basic combat mechanics. Players will sneak through corporate facilities and navigate the massive halls of abandoned ships, hacking terminals and disabling traps, loading up on salvage and loot and keeping an eye out for enemies.

The randomized interactive environments will be created based on the story in the mission the player is currently on, providing custom assorted backgrounds that fit thematically with the narrative, with the possibility to adjust the difficulty for a casual foray or a fiendishly grueling experience.

The Narrative AI will react to your choices regarding allies and how certain events are carried out, altering not only the course and results of the current mission, but also how the story of your Crawler crew evolves.

No dungeon crawler is complete without combat, of course, and StarCrawlers offers a sci-fi rendition of classical turn-based role playing game battles, where players can either unleash a series of light attacks with low action cost or deliver mighty blows with high cost actions, the choice of which ability to use where being of the utmost importance.

There are multiple classes to choose from for your crew, each one with its specific set of skills and particular strong points and weaknesses, each on with its own back story set in the game's rich sci-fi universe.

StarCrawlers has already been Greenlit by the Steam community and the Kickstarter is close to funded with 14 more days to go, so things are looking good for the little sci-fi RPG.
