StarCraft II, the year's biggest real time strategy title, has already received its first patch last week, but that hasn't stopped Blizzard's' Chris Sigaty from talking about the next patch, which he hopes will be launched before the end of the year.

The previous StarCraft II patch has been revealed last week, and brought a lot of balancing tweaks, as well new features to the map editor and other multiplayer modes.

The next one, according to Sigaty, will be "largely our e-sport patch. A couple of big things that will be in there are support for the season rolling, so players can look at the history of how they did in past seasons."

According to the Blizzard executive, more balancing changes will be made, as well as tweaks, but nothing too big will be changed, in order to keep the core experience the same.

"There will be bugfixes, balance changes and tweaks, too. Chat is the other major thing we want to get in there next patch. We'll also add more significant features to the editor."

Still, even after the patch, players are still complaining about problems with the game, a fact which Blizzard has noticed and is trying to fix.

Sigaty also tackled the long time complaint that the game's Zerg faction is underpowered.

"That's not actually the case. We have fewer Zerg players overall. I avoid playing Zerg as much as possible because I find them to be just more complex in general.

"You can go up and read on the forums at any one time and there are a bunch of different theories about balance and imbalance. We're being very cautious about making large swinging changes right now because at the highest level things are actually very strong."

Be sure that the large scale games will be affected by the next patch, while the smaller ones, the ones between friends, will stay largely the same.

"The things that we'll probably be addressing are the 2v2 and larger scale games," he said. "Ultimately, the 1 to 1 is what we want to keep as sacred as possible, but as a result right now there are some things that we need to address in the 2v2 at the higher level. We'll be looking at ways to do that without affecting the 1v1 balance."
