StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is latest offering to come from the legendary studio Blizzard Entertainment.
The sequel to the most important real time strategy in the history of gaming, still supported by a fervent community to this day, StarCraft II went on to confirm the developers pedigree and earned a strongly positive response from the fans and the gaming press
Wings of Liberty is the first of three titles that will make-up for the StarCraft II saga, as Blizzard has chose to focus on one race at a time, bring a single player experience that has never been seen in a single player real time strategy.
Jim Raynor and his rag-tag band of Terran rebels are the main characters in the first of these campaigns. There are 29 different missions, each with its own scenario and gameplay mechanics, Blizzard dismissing the old structure that would task players to destroy the enemy base most of the time.
The multiplayer component has remained largely the same, emphasizing lightning fast thought and action.
While some new units have been added to the mix and some old ones have been taken out, the mechanics have been kept.
The biggest upgrade to StarCraft II's online portion is the new Battle.net that allows players to keep track of their stats, achievements, their friends' progress and offers cloud functionality, storing saves and other information online that can be accessed from any copy of StarCraft II that was legally installed.
The game was released on the 27th of July 2010, exclusively on the PC.
