The second chapter of the StarCraft II trilogy, Heart of the Swarm, is unlikely to appear this year, even if Blizzard is working as hard as it can on the new real time strategy title.

StarCraft fans waited for quite a long time before Blizzard released the second installment in the series, so the news that it's going to be a trilogy, with each chapter focusing on one of the main factions, didn't really sit well with them.

Now, after last year's successful StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty release, plenty of gamers are already looking forward to the next iteration, Heart of the Swarm.

Don't get your hopes too high though, as even if Blizzard is working hard on the new title, it's unlikely that it will arrive in 2011.

Speaking with Eurogamer, StarCraft II Director Dustin Browder said that he didn't know the answer to when it would be ready for release.

"We're working on it as hard as we can. We're really trying to push on this and get it out as soon as we can," he then added.

"I don't think you'll be playing it this year. That seems very unlikely to me. But we're pounding away on it as fast as we possibly can."

2011 may still see a Blizzard release happen, as Diablo III, if fans are lucky and people are satisfied with its upcoming beta stage, might still be launched at the end of it.

If not, then Blizzard pledged to have two games launched in 2012, Diablo III and, possibly, Heart of the Swarm, in order to please its legions of fans.

Heart of Swarm will continue the story set in Wings of Liberty, but focus on the Zerg faction, instead of the Terran one, and should serve as a lead in to the conclusion of the saga, set to happen in the third and last installment, Legacy of the Void.
