Video game publisher Electronic Arts says that the upcoming Star Wars titles it is working on will not be linked in any way to the movie trilogy that Disney is currently developing with J.J. Abrams.

Eurogamer quotes Blake Jorgensen, the chief financial officer at the company, as saying that, “The beauty of the Star Wars franchise is that it's so broad and so deep you don't have to do a movie game - you can do a game that's very focused on the world that's been created around Star Wars.”

The company has so far only revealed a Battlefront reboot that’s being created by DICE using the new Frostbite 3 engine.

Titles based on Star Wars are also being created by teams at Visceral, the designers of Dead Space, and BioWare, the makers of Mass Effect.

The game exclusivity deal that Electronic Arts has with Disney will last for ten years.
