Star Wars: The Old Republic was released last week and already Electronic Arts, together with the online game’s developer, BioWare, are showing off some impressive figures gathered from the first few days of the title’s availability.

Star Wars: The Old Republic was awaited by millions of gamers from all around the world and was already tried out by even more people thanks to several beta stages.

Now, with the final game available in North America and Europe, BioWare, its developer, and EA, its publisher, have showed off the first statistics, calling The Old Republic the fastest growing subscription MMO in history, with over 1 million players already registering inside the game.

Since the game’s Early Access period, which kicked off a week before the actual launch, Old Republic players have managed some impressive feats, which were extrapolated by the developer below.

To date, players have: - Over 60 million in-game hours -- roughly equivalent to watching all six Star Wars movies over 4 million times - Over 850,000 Sith Warriors and over 810,000 Jedi Knights created - Over 260 million quests completed - Over 44 million PvP battles - Over 9 million space combat missions completed - Over 3 billion NPCs killed As you can see, it seems that The Old Republic players, at least according to these stats, are favoring the Dark side of the mystical Force, playing as Sith characters instead of the good Jedi knights.

"Already over a million players strong after our Dec 20th launch, The Old Republic has become the fastest growing subscription MMO in the history of our industry," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, general manager of EA's BioWare label and co-founder of BioWare.

"Everyone at BioWare, EA and LucasArts is honored - and humbled - by the stellar response from our fans. We're going to work together closely with our community in the weeks, months and years ahead, continually serving our audience with regular delivery of compelling new features and content."

Expect these numbers to become even more impressive as barely a full week has passed since The Old Republic was officially released in North America and Europe.
