Video game developer and publisher Electronic Arts announce that they are planning to launch a new Shadow of Revan expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic on December 9, delivering a range of new content to gamers, including five new levels of story-focused adventures and a new level cap set at 60.

Gamers who pre-order the new content before November 2 will be able to get access to the new elements of the game on December 2 and will receive a new grand statue of Revan himself to use in their Strongholds, as long as they are willing to pay the 19.99 dollar or Euro price.

Those who are paying a subscription for Star Wars: The Old Republic will get a 12X experience boost as they play through the story missions up to level 55.

Shadow of Revan for Star Wars: The Old Republic will introduce both Operations and Flashpoints for high-level players and new worlds for gamers to explore, with all the new content designed to appeal to those who love the science fiction universe.

The official announcement states, “In Shadow of Revan, a long-hidden sect of extremists has emerged from the ongoing war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. This group is led by Revan, the former hero of the Jedi Civil War. These fanatical ‘Revanites’ are gathering an army with an apocalyptic plan that will leave the Republic and the Empire in ashes.”

BioWare says that gamers will be able to fight alongside characters like Theron Shan, Lana Beniko, and Jakarro the Wookiee.

Revan and the future of Star Wars

Star Wars: The Old Republic is unique because it uses the Knights of the Old Republic timeline to power the MMO action and is not linked to the modern timeline of the franchise, which will be expanded by movies in the coming years.

BioWare says that, since it has gone free-to-play, the video game has managed to gain a solid player base and revenue stream and that there are long-term plans to deliver more expansions and updates that tweak the core mechanics.

Shadow of Revan might also rekindle hope among Knights of the Old Republic fans that a new single-player title might at least be considered.

The series has been well received by both fans of Star Wars and by those who love action role-playing games, and at the moment fans are still working to restore content which is associated with the second title.
