BioWare's co-founder and vice president, Dr. Greg Zeschuk has talked about the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic, and how some of its content will connect to the previous Knights of the Old Republic games also made by the studio back in the early 2000s.

EA, LucasArts and BioWare are working hard these days in order to get Star Wars: The Old Republic ready for launch. Needless to say, the anticipation from fans of the companies and the franchise as a whole is reaching critical mass, so the pressure is really on.

BioWare isn't that affected, however, as Zeschuk emphasizes that the studio is 'all hands on deck' in order to deliver a high quality game, much like the critically acclaimed Knights of the Old Republic RPGs it released back in the early 2000s.

When asked by VG247 about whether fans of those games can expect throwbacks to appear in the new, online experience, Zeschuk was more than willing to detail some of the things that will draw a parallel between the titles.

"It’s actually really nice. I’ve recently been playing through some of the Old Republic and around the third planet you visit or so is Taris, which was in the original and was destroyed. It’s cool because you go back there and it’s a destroyed city and you look at it and the art and such is totally reminiscent of the original."

"There’s other stuff on the planet as well – there’s quests that kind of link back up and there’s elements that discuss Revan in the game and his role in the universe. It’s kind of cool, like, KOTOR fans – they get grumpy but we tell them over and over again, and they’ll believe it when they play it – it really is like KOTOR 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 literally in this one game."

Zeschuk is quite adamant that the development team managed to add lots of interesting throwbacks to the old titles, saying that, "For the real avid fans, there’s these really neat connections back to the original games that are in this."

Star Wars: The Old Republic still doesn't have a concrete release date, but you can pre-order the online role-playing game at various retail and digital outlets.
