BioWare, the developer of the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic, announced that the planned beta stage for the online game in Europe is delayed because a new build is set to be released in the following week, which brings special localization options for French and German gamers, as well as many new things.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has gotten legions of gamers extremely interested with the promise of delivering a vast virtual world and a great online role playing experience, all based on the hugely popular Star Wars franchise.

The only taste people can currently get of The Old Republic is during the closed beta stage, where its developer, BioWare, invites select players to try out working builds of the MMORPG and share feedback with the studio.

While the beta is now fully underway in North America, European gamers have been left waiting, even if their testing stage was scheduled to already start.

BioWare has now clarified things on the game's forums, revealing that the decision to delay it was due to technical issues preventing the current build from being released, and that a new version is going to be deployed soon, so it wasn't worth wasting the time of eager beta testers, especially since it's a whopping 27GB download.

"Firstly, there's a new build of the game on the horizon," the studio revealed. "This is a major build, meaning there will be character wipes and a new client to download. As you may be aware, the current client download is around 27GB in size. If we were to invite players en masse today, those players would have to download the entirety of the client to access the game."

"Secondly, this new build will bring about the first localized versions of Star Wars: The Old Republic, which means those of you that speak French and German will have the chance to play the game in those languages, for the first time ever. We're extremely excited to be able to offer this to our players and as such, we're keen to get a lot of feedback from European testers in particular."

As soon as the new version goes live for Europe, BioWare says that invitations into it will start rolling out for players who enrolled into the beta stage. These will be sent in several waves, so don't worry if you didn't receive one in the first day of availability.
