Gamers won't be using the sword so much this time around

The Star Wars series of video games has seen a lot of ports and a lot of stories, but the developers never managed to blow anyone's mind away with the early installments. As technology provided developers with better platforms, the Star Wars video game became better as well. But, what do you think happened when LucasArts turned their head towards next-gen consoles?

The video you have below is an interview with the people behind the Star Wars video game series, telling the story of how they got to start development on the upcoming Star Wars title: "The Force Unleashed." You'll notice that the game is still in its early stages of development, but the crew is focusing on just the "right idea" and not a bunch of stuff that they want to stick together later on, so expect the full game soon.

Among other issues, the Xbox 360 and PS3 were mentioned, providing us with the information that the title would at least launch on these two next-gen consoles. And speaking of next-gen technology, just take a look at what your character will be able to do. And remember, these are just the initial levels of development. Much more will be added. It is obvious that the environment will see a much greater level of detail.

The developers had to watch the movie all over again, so they could come up with the main character. Opinions were divided, some liked the Wookie, while others wanted the more familiar characters (the Wookie was rejected by the way). But the most important thing when it comes to video games is still gameplay. Sure graphics look stunning even at this early stage of development, but it's gameplay they want to focus on the most with Unleashed, and the sword will be last thing on your mind.

This time around, players will actually "use the force," and "unleash" it!
