Previous rumors regarding the filming location of the newest episode of the “Star Wars” franchise pointed to London, where the Pinewood Studios would handle most of the shots, but new rumors are now pointing to a more exotic location.

Badass Digest is claiming that “Episode VII” will start shooting in six weeks, on May 14, and that it's going to be in Morocco, at least for the first two weeks.

The report adds that a short trip into neighboring Tunisia for some extra shots is not out of the question, but also prompts the question whether the old film sets will be used on this one. Fans will surely be able to tell anyone interested that the original sets built for the first movies have been left standing in Morocco, despite being today in a state of disrepair.

There were even fans that suggested starting a fund-raiser in order to restore the sets to their original state, but now some claim that J.J. Abrams plans on using the dilapidated moisture farms to film a return to Tatooine.

This comes to confirm some of the rumors going around that Abrams is planning a return to classic special effects and that he is trying to stay away from CGI. Shooting on location points in that general direction, so, as for now, the rumor mill has gotten things right.
